Replacement Seat Belt Sockets (Roadtrek)

So my 2000 Chevy Roadtrek's rear seat belt sockets are damaged beyond repair. I have spent hours on the Internet looking for replacement sockets, that will accommodate the 38mm (approximately 1.5 inches wide) male portion of the seat belt.

There are 22mm sockets everywhere. Why does Roadtrek do crap like this?

Please, does anybody have any ideas on replacement sockets? I really don't want to rip out the entire seat belt assembly to put in a 22mm socket.

I really don't know.

My Internet search consistently showed 22mm buckles; nothing as large as what I need. My impression is that the larger size is used for trucks or maybe even commercial vehicles.

It just really irks me that Roadtrek uses crap that you cannot readily find replacement parts for.

I seem to remember hearing quite a long time ago that seat belts have to be replaced as a complete set of buckles as they are matched as a pair. This may be old information or misremembered, but it had to do with assurance of compliance for latching reliability in use.

I remember the std seat belt buckle going narrower about 1978


( seat belts became mandatory in US for 1968 model year)


I have somewhere in one of my sheds ( yes, plural) seat belts left over from old Cadillacs- I'll see if I can find one and measure it... I have 66 and 72 caddy parts stored.



your tongue is 38mm wide?
can you measure how thick and the dims of the hole please


thinking if we find a match, maybe you'll be able to order up something safe

Not all seatbelts of the same size are compatible. I put a different manufactures' belt into a socket and it would go in just fine, but it would NOT release.

I had to cut the socket apart to separate them. So be forewarned, you may have to buy a complete set.

My buddy has a used car lot and buys cars and trucks from auction. Some have been in accidents which causes depending on severity of accident. The seat belts lock and must be replaced. He always replaces them as a unit not just one end or another.

Here is a picture of the seat belt that is used in the second row passenger seats of my 2000 Roadtrek Versatile 200.

The dims of the hole are 9/16 x 7/16 of an inch.
