Promaster and Sprinter Campervans in Moab

I suspect you are right that Mike Neudorfer of ARV has minimal interest in being acquired but for the right price and circumstances who knows?

Regardless, the quality, customer care, advancements and innovations of ARV could have jump-started Hymer in the USA and even globally. However, as you pointed out, Roadtrek had the manufacturing facility and staff and distribution, which were all desirable. It will be interesting if all Roadtrek dealers also become Hymer dealers or whether there will be dealers that carry one or the other. I don't know about that.

Why Hymer doesn't make something similar to the Aktiv on the Sprinter Chassis or simply replicate the Grand Canyon in the USA baffles me. In my search to date, I have been underwhelmed with the quality and fit and finish of the Aktiv.

I assume Winnebago probably does have some extra juice getting 4X4 Sprinters. If you were MB and Roadtrek wanted 10 4X4 chassis and Winnebago wanted 100 what would you do?

.

Winnebago is Mercedes Benz's largest customer.

This is according to Russ in one of the interviews.
Yes he admitted that WGO gets preferential treatment.

We downsized from a 32ft. Southwind to a 20ft. Hymer Van One. Sale price $59K. Had several issues so Hymer shipped it to the factory, fixed everything, added chrome wheels and some new interior upgrades at no extra cost.

It's just the right size for us two olde fahrts! https://travelingbyrv.blogspot.com/

Congrats on the new Van. Seems like the trend now is many folks downsizing but of course there are trade-offs.

I am really glad to hear that Hymer stepped up, did the right thing, and got your new van sorted out. Hymer just has to figure out how to get their quality and fit and finish up. The Van One's I saw at a couple dealers were in poor shape and they were brand new.

I really like the layout of the Van One with the rear bath. It's similar to the Travato 59K (we just ordered) but it's a bit shorter and even more maneuverable.

I like the layout of the Hymer Aktiv as well but I think many of us are still waiting and hoping Hymer, or another major manufacture, brings out a 4X4 van with the amenities and comfort of more "traditional" RV but with a more modern design and layout better suited for Moab type adventures that include mountain biking, kayaking, hiking, etc.

Keep us posted how you like the new van.
