Hot Water Leak/Pressure

On our last trip out I found a water puddle in the bath. Not much. The next morning we turned on the water heater to wash up and I heard a drip/drip in the bath. It's coming from the hot water connection to the faucet. When I run the faucet the drip stops. Cycle repeats the next morning. Excess pressure in line? I looked at the pressure relief valve after a test at home this morning in which I replicated the dripping and there was a single drip hanging from the valve outlet.

Any experience with this problem or ideas as to cause/remedy??

You could try bleeding off some water from the water heater to gain air cushion in the water heater.

Turn off the water pump, open a hat water faucet, then work the pressure relief valve.

If you haven't checked the anode rod(assuming a Suburban heater) in a while, instead of using the pressure valve I would remove and check the anode and do a flush out at the same time. Make sure to relieve any pressure in the water system before removing the anode rod.

Failing that, installing an accumulator will eliminate pressure spikes.

Of course, you could have a defect in the faucet...
