I have a 2005 Roadtrek 210 Versatile with the Macerator septic dumping system. When dumping recently, the flow started normally, then slowed down within a minute or so. We thought the tank was empty, but it turned out it was not. The black water tank was nearly full when we started. After the flow slowed, the water would only flow out the hose when the Macerator button was pressed, when we stopped pressing, the flow stops so it is definitely working. We can also hear it run. We ended up holding the Macerator button in for nearly 30 minutes total when someone else arrived and wanted to dump. This got the the flow down to someone peeing.

The indicator level lights do not work correctly so we cannot be sure of the levels (it is my understanding that this is common). We know the black water tank was about full from looking down the stool with the flush cover open. I am fairly sure the black water tank was just about empty when we stopped dumping because of observation down the toilet. We acquired the coach within the past year. It is our understanding that owners of this coach for the past 5 years did not use the toilet much. We know it had been mostly stored and not used at all the past 3 years.

Please let us know your thoughts as to what is wrong and what needs to be done to fix this.

Maybe the rubber impellar is bad. However, when mine failed, the macerator quit pumping altogether.

It it only the black tank or the gray also that pumps slow?

Running slow could easily be a voltage issue also, so that is probably a less messy place to start than opening the plumbing to clean it out and check the pump.

Our Roadtrek had the ground from the pump screwed to the metal cover for pump, which looked to be a very bad place for it because the cover was only screwed together.

I think I would start by making sure the pump is getting full voltage and the ground is good.

Worn Impeller occured to me too. Bear in mind that the SureFlo is a positive displacement pump and will not pass any liquid when it is off unless the rubber impeller is seriously worn. In that case it will pump very little when the pump is running. Poor ground on the motor is another possibility as Booster mentioned.

I have a 2006 190P. My macerator started running slow, and I just decided to replace it since it was 12 years old. Turns out the rubber impeller was worn down to a nub. If you can get under your rig, it’s a pretty easy swap out.
