Nothing special about Renogy, lots of batteries, including our SOKs do the same. Its built in to every battery and they have a phone app for monitoring and control. I can read each of my battery's or get a combined readout. I am not sure of other brands but this type of Lithium is Not prone to fires.
That is exactly what I am talking about, the charge controller is controlling things, not the BMS which is just communicating and watching for the controller messing up or battery failing. If those issues show up, the BMS will shut the system down.I have the Renogy charge controller for Lithium on my system, its been in and working fine for the past 3 years on my shop solar setup.
