Good Afternoon!

We have a 2003 PW Excel TS.
It came equipped with an Onan 2800 that was installed aftermarket.
The Factory house battery compartment was empty, but two 6 volt golf
cart batteries were installed in the passenger storage compartment.

In checking around I have not found anything like a factory schematic,
so I thought I'd try to develop a block diagram of the unit's
electrical components.

I have a small "18V" 240W solar system.

I also have a larger (600W) 40V array I bring when trailing a light
aluminum boat.

So from here this is what i would like to achieve
1) Reinstalling the group 27 house battery
2) Upgrade to AGM's on the second house bank
3) Confirm the attached factory part of the attached block diagram is
functionally correct.
4) Determine how to safely / correctly reintroduce the original battery bank
5) determine the correct wiring for the two solar charge systems to
allow both to be used, and hopefully at the same time as needed.

If anyone could confirm which parts of my draft are correct and which are incorrect or could be configured better or with different devices, please do.

John

Specific to the solar controllers, I put mine on an A/B/Off switch that lets me charge either battery bank directly - no disconnect other than the A/B/Off switch. I re-configure the controllers any time I switch banks.

Hello,

We have a 2004 PW EL TS with a house 95 ah house battery. We have 200w portable solar panels and would like do more off grid camping. My understanding is that to go Lithium would require rewiring.

Our tech suggested 2 golf cart batteries wired in series to provide more ah. Any downsides to this other than weight? Other suggestions?

Thanks!

I had two 6 volt golf cart batteries mounted in the front end of the passenger side storage compartment.

I just took them out and replaced the two (220ah 122lbs) with a single group 31 deep cycle (130ah 72lbs)

Opened up a lot of space.

I have a generator and solar so I think most of the time I will not miss the 90ah.

well funny the way this world turns!

So a relationship with a local battery guy, i couldn't turn down a deal on a LSA for the original house bank ( group 27) ( its now easily removable as a swap for my trolling motor.)
The two marginal 6V golf Cart batteries, were replaced with again LSA Group 31 deep cycle.

I will probably solve the dual solar supply charging issue by installing a charge controller on both battery banks, and mechanically attaching which ever panel banks i have with me as needed

Thanks all for your input!
