In the past days, we've been working to update the forum to a new software platform and we've been offline. Welcome back! The new forum software is powered by Xenforo and there are some new features and functions. We're still tweaking things so please be patient.

There are many new features and I encourage you to wander around, test things out and then visit your profile and do some updating. Please keep in mind that changes and adjustments are still being made and so views will become more refined over the next few days.

Update your profile:
  • Consider uploading a new avatar (little pic next to your posts). The new site accommodates larger images and old avatars are looking a little tired. Avatars will automatically resize - choose a good one!
  • Update your signature if needed
  • Add a profile banner - larger image that displays on your profile page
  • Review your signature - you may need to update it.
Mobile viewing
The site runs well on small screens. Try it out on the road, and use your regular login - no app required. Set a bookmark for the site on mobile for fast access and look for push notifications (coming soon) to stay up to date.

Thread marking:
The forum remembers what you have already read and will display new unread threads as bolded or when you click into an ongoing thread, takes you to unread content BUT: You may need to Mark a forum "read" for this to work correctly moving forward. The conversion could not "remember" what you have already seen and so initially all threads may appear as unread. To do this, open a forum and look for the link at the top of the list of threads to "Mark Read". Alternatively, use the 'Mark Forums Read' link at the top of the page to mark all.

Classifieds: The classifieds pages are still offline. We have a new classifieds system in the works and it's not quite ready to go live.

There are many things still being tweaked and fiddled with and you will continue to see some changes but we wanted to get back online as soon as possible - thanks in advance for your patience.

Still under construction:
New Forum 101 Thread (how to navigate the board and configure accounts)
More items as they are discovered
Classifieds

Post up if you have questions - we're all learning

If you have 2 accounts, we can merge them and move all posts to one account but we will need to know which account you wish to retain. Duplicate accounts are not allowed.

Duplicate display names and system changed names - With the recent Software update, duplicate display names (two members w/ same name) are no longer allowed. If you find your display name was changed and you need a hand updating it, please let us know. Often these changed display names will look like this: Treeman (changed to) Treeman-ClassB. You may be able to edit your display name yourself via your profile, but if you need a hand please hit the contact link - we can help.

My newly uploaded media has the option to delete. The older media uploaded by me in the past (some of them I'd like to replace because they were arbitrarily rotated), has no option to delete. Is this by design?

Looking into this but in the meantime I was able to rotate a few of those images ;)

I had always used a link directly to "see new posts" link on the old system, but with the new system when I do that it comes up with a no new posts most of the time and never shows any new post that has been put up. If I then click the "see new posts" button I do appear to get them.
Is this the way it is designed to work and can it just automatically open the new post when I go in for the link?

Begin by clicking mark all forums read to reset everything. This is needed because the software update may not accurately know what you have seen or not (this is a one-time problem).

Next, (and every time you log in) click on what's new at the top of the page to see the latest content since your last visit.

I have done that and it does work, and gives the right new postings. But if I go straight in to new postings from a link it does not show any new post or indicate there are new posts, and I then need to click the new post button to see them or find out there are none. The old software would go right to the new posts and show them without having to click the new posts button. Minor inconvenience to be sure, but I got spoiled, I fear by that part of the old site.

booster -
I just "loaded" a Bookmark to the site url for New Posts and it checked out - just now. Got me there. Could be in cashe? I'll flush and recheck in the am. Might that be a solution? Let you know then.
I'm on Mozilla/Win10 & 11

Best of Luck.

Cheers - Jim

Did it actually show you any new posts when you went in. Mine goes the right area and gives a no new stuff even, but then if I hit the new posts button the new post show up in that same screen.

I got right to this screen:

I haven't checked but other forums do the same, and if nothing new, show the threads that haven't been updated in most recent first.

Hope that works for you. I'll have to test it again later (after you've posted too!).

Looks like the "operator" in my Bookmark is:
"New posts"

If that doesn't work later, maybe JanetH. can move some levers...

Cheers - Jim

It is very interesting that I went in this morning from my link to the new posts of the forum and it went right into the new posts and showed your one from this AM as new. Mystifying if but works for me this way OK. Maybe Janet changed something over night.

Is it possible to have filters on the classified ads so we could pick which RV Life sites see? Only a couple of filters offered and nothing like that.
On edit.
I was looking at the "new classified" and they were all non B parts. When I go to the main menu and do "trading post" I get the same listings we had on the old forum.
What is odd is that the listings in the "new classified" section don't open and just pop to the main b forum page.

It would sure be nice to have a better way to search for members in the members area.

The most common reason I search for someone in the members section is because I don't remember either the spelling of the name for certain.

The current member search won't give suggestions even if you put in just one letter. Once you get two or three correct it will show option.

The old software had multiple ways to search, including alphabetical which was a good fallback option in nothing else worked.
