Islander wide body class B

Hi Everyone. Wondering if anyone knows anything about a wide body class B made by "ISLANDER" I think they are made in Newfoundland Canada and they look like a well made unit but I would like to hear from anyone who may own one or has owned one in the past. Thanks. [/img]

Thanks for your reply Vango. From the response so far I was beginning to feel that I was the only one who has seen one of these class B vans. I just bought a 1985 Dodge b that looks like an Islander in Chilliwack B.C. It has the wide body and large overhead bunk. I would enjoy hearing from other Islander owners as I would like to learn more about this model. Happy Holidays to all. :wave:

I met the owners of this company a few years back when I worked for Woodalls in Atlantic Canada. I have driven by their dealerships in NL a few times but I don't recall seeing them the last couple years that I was over on the rock.

These are photos from around 1999 & 2000. The motor homes were made by Wide Body RV Industries in Newfoundland (as mentioned in previous posts above)

I recently purchased a 1995 dodge Islander supreme bclass.It was made in B.C. It's a great van,but didn't come with an owners manual. Wonder if anyone knows where I can purchase one?

I tried googling "dodge islander class b" without the year and got quite a few hits.
You might try sending some emails to the vendors, or other owners, and inquire
where they got theirs, if their vans didn't come with one. Some folks might be
willing to send you a photocopy if you can't get an original copy.

Hello All! Maybe I am late jumping in on this thread, but I had looked into Islander RV's, best I could, before I bought one last summer.

Not absolutely positive, but my understanding is Islander RV Industries started in Bishop Falls, NL (near Grand Falls-Windsor, NL - about 4 hours away from St John's). As others have mentioned, there was also the Islander RV Industries in Langley, BC. Both shops have long since been closed. I think the old Islander RV Industries shop in Bishop Falls is now "Newfoundland STYRO Inc".

I have attached a couple of pictures of my Islander RV boondocking here in Newfoundland this year.

Your van looks very nice. Technically not a "b", but extraordinarily roomy for such a compact package.

It's a Class B RV as it started out on a Van chassis, not a Cutaway or Cab chassis.

Hello Mike,
Yes, it is nice to have "Made In Canada". I think Islander Industries in Newfoundland was part of a Government job start-up initiative - it is definitely a little more removed from the supply lines! But I have to say, I am really impressed, they appear to have made a solid RV!

Thank you for the thanks & comment. I was wondering about the Class B or not. It is "over the cab bunk", but it is built on a van chasis and not a cutaway truck one.

This was looooong before NAFTA... LOL

But yes, ever since I got interested in buying a little Class B, nearly all of the larger manufacturers were in Canada... Roadtrek, Great West Van, Pleasure Way, Leisure Travel.

Winnebago was later into it... and now Thor and some other American companies have jumped in.

Marco posted the floor plans above and I noted that one of them was exactly the plan of my Great West Van from 2004 which also had an overcab bunk. Of course, that company is gone now... and Leisure was purchased by EEE and now makes only Class C's.

This is a B, just like the Roadtrek 210

Islander RV

Purchased a Class B wide body 1995 Islander RV (Langley B.C. Canada) this fall.
Floor plan Dinette with an over cab bunk.

Came with owners manual, brochure spec sheet, A/C , fridge , HWT, etc manuals. If others looking for a copy send me a message and I can scan and Email. Just winterized it today. Looking forward to 2021 travels. I’m in the Okanagan BC.

we just bought a 1995 Islander same as yours but without the above cab bed (and my first name is the same as your too!). It came with the manual for the Doge Ram but not the Islander Owners Manual, which i presume talks about all the RV features and how to use them? I’m new to the forum too and acquired a 1991 Islander just last summer. The interior was mostly removed so needs lots of work, but good bones; unfortunately no paperwork either. If you’re still willing/able to scan and send a copy of the manuals, that would sure be appreciated. I’d like to rebuild close to the original design as it seems (from pics I’ve seen) it was fairly well thought out. Thanks much for your efforts and apologize for making the queue longer.
