The rental is in pretty decent visual condition inside and out. There are actually three identical ones they have available. Two have had fairly substantial repairs (over $10K), and one has had some minor cosmetic repairs and a new windsheild.
I don't have a mechanic yet, but if I go the used route I'll definitely want an independent inspection.
HI! thanks for your input. I was assuming that the rental's warranty would be whatever is left of the manufacturer's warranty, but i've emailed the salesman to confirm that.
I'm in Canada, so consider the exchange rate - the used is 89K asking, and the new is 133K asking. There are some bells and whistles on the new one that the used doesn't have, and it's a slightly different layout - which I like better. I also prefer the colors both inside and outside on the new one, but i'm trying not to let aesthetics sway my decision too much.
I totally appreciate your advice about a rental taking a lot more wear and tear than a privately owned used model. That's absolutely something I'm concerned about.
