Default Shower head modification - Great Idea!

From Barman:

Shower head modification

Quote:
I thought your class B forum might be interested in a very easy modification I made to the inside and outside shower heads on our 2006 190 Versatile Roadtrek.

As seen in the pics, I installed a small push button valve between the hose and spray nozzle. It takes about two seconds to do it and I purchased them in the shower hardware section of Home Depot for about $3.00 each. They make showering inside of your class B much easier, and you can save a ton of water. Once you set the water flow & temp with your water valves in the Roadtrek you just push the button on this valve to shut-off the water. Water will continue to drip out of the shower head because they are not 100 % shut-off, but I think they are 99%.

They actually make showering a joy in our RT. We have really been able to extend our water supply with them and it is real nice that it maintains your temperature setting without having to turn the water handles. Also they are much easier to put in your system than some of the other modifications I have seen. The only change I had to do to make them work is I purchased another pack of the sealing washers and used two washers, not just one. This was because the hose wanted to leak at the valve, but two washers solved it very well.

Thanks for sending the photos and information Barman. Great idea!

Barman, just to show you that great ideas never die. We just purchased a 2006 RT 210 and have the same shower head. I was surprised RT doesn't build a shutoff in the head and was going to buy another one. I'll give your idea a try. Thanks. Bob

I am doing this as well, but one thing I was thinking about adding is one way valves to the hot and cold lines before the faucet. This is an idea I picked up from http://www.modmyrv.com. I have experienced the issue they mention where you have just a second or two of either hot or cold water after opening the quick valve again on another rig I had. Might be work considering, sure is an easy thing to do! I really like this push button valve too! Much nicer than the typical lever types I usually see!
