Default Removing A/C Cover on a RT

I have a 05/04 RT 190P and a bird has built a nest in the air conditioning unit. This happened one time before, and I used a small dowel pole and shop-vac with a long cardboard sleeve to clean out. I spoke with another Trekker and he had the problem and removed the cover and put a screen up to stop entrance. He told me of some pitfall to watch out for - can't remember what it was now!! I took a look today, looks like the cover is two pieces top and back. I think I could remove the four screws on the back and drill out the pop rivets at the joint and remove - or at least lift up. I see the lights up there - don't know how they are fastened and wondered if anyone else has removed the cover and any suggestions. I know guys - this job is for the birds!!! Thanks, Ron

I did a bit of searching but couldn't find any info on how to take the a/c cover off.

I wonder if both pieces would come off together so you wouldn't have to drill out the rivets.

Maybe send an email to service @ roadtrek.com

Thats a good idea to put a screen there.

The only photo I have of that area includes my solar panel.

I wonder if they are bolts or screws.

I think the lenses come off those lights then you'll see the screws that hold the light base in place.

Hopefully there's enough slack in the wires so you don't have to remove the lights.

Default Removing A/C Cover on 05/04 RT 190P

Mark, thanks for the recommendation to contact Roadtrek, below is the response from Scott:
Good Morning Ron,
To remove the A/C cover you will need to remove all those screws up the back and around the roof.
The rivets hold the two parts together and should not be removed.
These parts come off together.

Please these screws should be removed and replaced with a regular screw driver, not a power tool.

The upper lights are attached with a wire harness that has an automotive plug and will easily unplug.

When reinstalling start all your upper roof screws first then the ones down the back.
Do not tighten until all screws are in place.
Then start at the front part of the unit working evenly in both directions to the back bottom.
