when you say "Reliable" the only thing that really comes to mind is a E350 with a 7.3 or 7.3 Powerstroke

2010 is DEF was required.

Yes, but don't confuse Sprinter model year with RoadTrek model year. It is quite possible OP's chassis is MY2009 as I said, which is non-DEF.

Mercedes, Dodge, Freightliner diesel Sprinters were required to employ the DEF system on engines manufactured in 2008 forward. I am fortunate to have a 2008 Roadtrek, built on a 2007 Sprinter chassis. It was not only the last year w/o DEF, but also the first year of the newer six cylinder engine which is pretty much the same as the current six cylinder engine. Try to find a 2007 chassis.

Close but not accurate. The DEF/SCR system was not required or installed on Sprinter diesels in USA until MY 2010. The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) was required and added in MY 2007.

Just to be 100% accurate, mb was neverrequired to use DEF. It was just the choice they made for meeting the new diesel emissions standards. VW chose differently. We know how that turned out.

Thanks for clarifying my poorly worded comment. Diesel engines manufactured on or after January 1, 2010 are required to meet lowered NOx standards for the US market. It was those EPA emissions standards the caused MB to use the SCR/DEF system. Several manufacturers of diesel engines, including VW tried other systems like Lean NOx trap (LNT) or enhanced exhaust gas recirculation (EEGR). Most have now switched to the SCR/DEF system as it seems to be the most effective way to reduce NOx.
FYI - according to Wikipedia Selective Catalytic Reduction of NOx using ammonia as the reducing agent was patented in the United States by the Engelhard Corporation in 1957.

I very much enjoy my DEF + SCR equipped (2011MY NCV3) chassis powering my class C RV. The power band is right where it's needed, and the 14-18 MPG for a vehicle this size is awesome.
Notable benefits of DEF + SCR filters are:
1. No diesel soot smell. None. Not even a hint.
2. Much reduced carcinogenic emissions.
3. No questions about registering the vehicle.
4. Lower carbon footprint (less fuel burned = less CO2)
Sure, the filters lop off a couple MPG, but I think it's worth it.

The T1N models were the only Sprinter vans in the USA and Canada that upfitters used for Class Bs that didn't use DEF. That's the simple explanation. NC3V (2006-2018 ) though I don't think upfitters had NC3V models until 2009 or 2010 and VS30 (2018 plus) Sprinter vans used DEF.

DEF was not introduced in Sprinters until 2010, so there were a few glorious years of NCV3s that were not plagued with the BlueTec system. This was arguably the golden age of Sprinters.

Hey guys, would it be a good idea if me to remove the DPF filter from my Sprinter 2021?

Certainly not.
That would be totally illegal, not to mention environmentally irresponsible. In addition, it would also require hacked software, which is also illegal.

DEF-free Sprinter RV engines can be reliable. Check out model-specific reviews for a better picture.
