Default Roadtrek engines

On the 2000 to 2005 Roadtrek 190, specifically which GM engine do they have? I see some ads claiming that they have the 5.7 and others saying they have the 6.0 L. The 2003 Roadtrek brochure says they have 300 HP/360 ft.lbs, but it does not identify the specific engine. Is it the 6 liter L96?

The engine size changed with the model refresh in 2003 although there may be some model year, but not van appearance overlap. The 5.7 was the early and the 6.0 the latter. The 300/360 engine was until about 2008 when they they got more hp and torque with variable valve timing in the 6.0.

You can identify the earlier years pretty easily by looking at the plastic panel right above the tail lights. It they have louvres it is the older model with a 5.7 and if they are smooth it is a 6.0.

the Vin will tell you for sure which motor version came in the van
( I believe the 170 models came with 4.8 )

on most RV's the chassis is one model year previous to the "rv model year"

my 2006 pleasure way is on a 2005 Chev express 3500 6.0" 305/360

In the years that the OP was talking about, I think all the Chevies were 5.7 or 6.0 in Roatdtreks. They did use the 4.8 in both 170 and 190s for a while by 2010 or so IIRC.

Great list of what was out there then.

One thing that is often overlooked in the post 2003 engines is that the heavy duty vans with the 4.8 and 6.0 engines got a version of the engines that were intended for heavy use in trucks. In particular they got cast iron blocks instead of the aluminum ones seen in other applications.
