Default Islander Questions

Hi all!

I am a proud owner of a 1990 Islander Silverstream (standard body) by Islander RV in BC and I've found a great deal on a 1999 Islander Supreme by Wide Body Industries in NL.

I am still not 100% on if these were the same manufacturers or not?

Did they move? Or did they sell the rights to another company?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Mike

Mike, let me be the first to welcome you to the forum!

I don't have an answer on whether they have the manufacturer, but the tops certainly look similar. If you are interested in getting the slightly newer and larger wide-body, I wouldn't let that stop you.

.

The Islander is a great design.

Unfortunately, the company went belly up.

Thanks folks. Yes I a understand Islander in Langley went out of business around 2003 but just unsure how the east coast Islanders are related.

Did they sell the rights to the design to Widebody Industries who were totally separate people? Or, were they a spin off like the current Islander RV in NL is from Widebody?

Here's some more pictures on the van I am lining up.

It seems there's nothing like an Islander! We are proud owners of an 86 Islander Goldstream (wide body) and could not be more thrilled with it. We too have wondered about the connection between Langley and Newfoundland companies and have never figured it out. Originally we thought ours had come to the Dodge dealer in Victoria BC from Nfld but we have no way of knowing (we are 3rd owners; bought in 2010). Islander designs seem exceptionally good so enjoy!

I found out they were the same company and just added another location in Newfoundland.

I put the deposit down, just waiting to see if my friend can drive it back, if not then I'll have to put it on a trailer.

So my 1990 will be for sale after labour day!
