Default Fedders AC 1994 Dodge RT

1994 Dodge B350 Roadtrek 190 Versatile: Fedders AC (pretty sure original & never worked on). Fan motor sounded locked up at the start of the season, but after several attempts now runs noisily.

The question is, would it be better to replace the AC or the fan motor? I know newer AC's are more efficient and draw lower amps, but I don't want an AC that has to be replaced every 2-3 years!

If I replace the AC, what is the best AC to replace it with?

Replacing a Fedders A/C is a major but well documented effort on this forum. You will have to search for the threads. The Fedders A/C is no longer available and there is no new A/C that is a perfect fit but some are close. I don’t think the later Roadtrek A/C will fit.

Default Thank you!

Thank you, I really don't know how or where to start searching threads for info on this but I will try. It is encouraging to hear that it has been discussed here somewhere!

I expect that someone that knows more than I will help so don’t go away.

Check out the Roadtrek facebook forum. I think that the LG 8000BTU model ( or a least one of them) that I installed in my Xplorer 230XLW will fit, as I know that this model (sorry, can't provide the model number right now) will fit with minimal modifications. Good Luck.

My Pleasure-Way ac fan did the same thing, then quit working. It was a dirtdobber's nest in the fan cage, which broke the fan blades when I started using it. Replaced the fan and no more problems.

It's obvious why you found that dirtdobber's nest, Ladybugg.
