Default 2016 Sprinter/2017 Winnebago Era: What is this part?

We were driving past Tucson, 11pm, when the entire rig shuddered like the world was ending. My wife saw sparks in the rear view camera.

Every trucker around us hit their brakes and got out of the way so we could exit the freeway.

I had lost about 95% of my braking ability. I could engine-brake, the rig drove fine, but the brake pedal went to the floor, and it was JUST BARELY enough to stop the rig if I was going at a slow walking speed.

The last 2 hours of our trip took 2 weeks to complete, and get the rig home.

This metal piece was tangled up in our brake lines, rear port side (American Driver's side). Benz says it's not one of their parts. I assume it's winnebago's.

It could be road debris, but all my brake lines on that side were going through the loop. That had to be planned.

The ERA sits low to the ground, it's hard to get under there, but I don't see anything matching on the right hand side.

Does anyone recognize this part?

Size 15 American shoe for scale.:

That looks like part of the rear mud flaps on large trucks. It was probably road debris that you ran over and it got caught under your van doing the damage.
