Default Macerator vs not

Around the forums, I have read many complaints about the macerator units (especially when they fail) and have also read some praise for the units. What is your experience/recommendation?

Default Re: Macerator vs not

Gravity is less troublefree, but harder to deal with on a daily basis. Macerators work great on a daily basis, quick and easy. They do break occasionally, but that can be minimized. If you are looking at a low rider, like the Chevy Roadtreks, and aren't going to lift it, the macerator is almost a necessity as the outlet of a gravity dump is too low to use well. We stay with a macerator, are careful with hair in the drain, and will take it apart to clean and inspect every couple of years. So far, so good.
