Default Eco-Friendly Electic Bike/Scooter

Interested in a scooter type bike, but not another gas engine to look after? Check out this post & video I made reviewing my new Jetson Electric Bike.

I did a simple mod to make this bike go 28mph. Now hills are no problem and no hit to battery life.

What did you do to it. Going from 20 up to 28 should take almost double the power by time to go 50% more distance?

I disconnected the electronic governor. It was just a wire with a plastic connector to the harness.

Apparently how this thing works, it wastes alot of power holding to the 20 mph. Throttle would still be wide open.

I expected it to have alot shorter range, but that is not the case.

So you got an extra 8 mph out of the bike. How does that effect the braking efficiency of the bike??
Also ... Would that also not make the bike illegal in some jurisdictions in terms of not requiring a licence, insurance, etc. I know it would be in my area.

It seems to brake just as well.

I think in practical terms, you aren't going to run continuously at 28. It's just a burst of speed to climb a hill or maybe to zip around something. Actually, on a big hill, you'd have that speed at the bottom, but it will drop off as you go and you'll crest the hill at 15 to 20.

Yes, in some places it's illegal. In the instructions, they want you to take it to a dealer to do the mod and warn you that you could be now subject to the same rules as mopeds. So if you are crazy for rules, don't do this!
