Awning advice Pleasure Way Ascent

Our 2017 Pleasure Way Ascent came equipped with an awning from Carefree Awnings. It is anything but “carefree”. I’ve had it worked on more than I’ve been able to use it. I don’t trust it at all.
Has anyone had good luck with these? Maybe replace the switch? The OE is pretty shabby. If you replaced yours, what brand did you select?

I suppose I'm fortunate to have a crank out Fiamma on my PW...I made an attachment for my drill which I use sometimes at home
