Add a kangaroo pouch
Hi,
Before our recent cross country trip I was trying to figure out how to add exterior storage.
I came up with some funny 8” pvc pipes-attached-to-bumpers ideas.
Also looked at hitch-based attachments.
What I finally found was the Trasharoo gear bag, which attaches to a spare tire. It is about $60 and was originally designed to haul trash out of campsites. Once you remove your spare tire cover it attaches easily with secure straps that cross behind the tire.
Because it is outside of the vehicle (and has drain holes at the bottom), I find it is great for hauling wet or dirty gear. I stowed my freshwater hose, tarp, and pvc shower stall frame in it (with room to spare). The flap has a zippered pocket where I kept hose and shower attachments.
The outside pouches I use for wet clean up towels.
You probably wouldn’t want to put anything of real value in it since it is not lockable and easily removed.
It has stayed on for over 7000 miles so I feel confident in recommending it.
