Default Trailer hitch on my 96

My 1996 Rialta has a tow hitch. I haven't towed anything with it yet. I'm wondering if anyone else has a Rialta with the 2.5L engine and has towed something? How'd the Rilata do towing?

I have a similar model and am looking to tow my racecar one an open trailer with it. Does anyone know if the Rialta is up for it? The racecar and trailer are light, but I am worried that the transaxle is not up for the extra load. Anyone out there have any experience or feedback? I don't have an owner's manual, and I can't seem to find towing specs on any sites.

I have a 96 with the 2.5. I towed a utility trailer that weighed about 1500 lbs. OK on flat to moderate grade roads. I now tow an aluminum boat and trailer weighing about 700 lbs. Does great even over Snoqualmie Pass here in WA state.

I would put a tent, food, moped and fire wood Any ideas or help??
