Default Synthetic oil or just a high grade everyday oil?

I purchased a 1999 Rialta HD recently with only 11K miles on it and I'm getting getting to have the oil changed. My question is, should I use Synthetic oil or is a high grade everyday oil OK? I plan on changing the oil every 3K miles.

I use synthetic oil in my 2005. I am not the orig. owner. I rather use a high grade oil , & yes I also change it between 3 & 5000 mi.

The advantage of synthetic oil is that it does not lose viscosity or break down under high heat conditions, as do standard oils. Porsche and other perfomance auto manufacturers recommend synthetic in their vehicles but with higher intervals between oil changes. (10,000 miles). Flitration seems to be the only limiting factor. Personally, I use synthetic with a high grade/heavy duty filter. After all we've invested considerable amounts of money in our Rialtas, we want them to last as long as possible! Consider it a small investment to avoid costly repairs.

you want to use Amzoil. They advise every 15,000 miles - but I can't bear to go that long.

Just do every 10,000. Also, Amzoil has a seal conditioner in it (that Mobil 1 doesn't) that will keep your seals lasting a lot longer. In the end, this is less expensive as you make fewer trips to the shop.

They have synthetic tranny fluid too.
