Default Registering a "non resident " vehicle in CA?

Hi all!

I'm seriously shopping for a 02,03 HD with low miles. I find that out of state rialtas are more plentiful and much cheaper. However, we have strict smog requirements and I'm afraid that the registration process would be painful and expensive. Can you share any experiences with me? Tips?

If you purchase a Rialta from outside of CA there should be no problems in registering. The R should meet smog requirements if in good shape with no check engine lights on. I have to have my R smogged each year because we live in central Tennessee. If I have a checkd engine light on, I fail, regardles of problem. Just make sure all smog equipment is in place.

I'm happy to report that I found a local QD and I got a great deal on it! Taking it to smog check today!
