New owner in search of a part

I am proud new Rialta QD 202 owner and happy to connect with other more experienced owners. I'm hoping someone can help me out with a search. The van I bought has sun damage to the trim in the interior the of the cab. The trim extends from the dash on each side of the cab and over the windows on both the drivers and passengers side. I have called a number of VW dealerships and was told by one that the trim is no longer availabe. Despite that, one VW parts department in Atlanta was able to find the trim for the left side. I have been told that the Rialta is very popular in Europe and it continued to be produced there for a time even after it was no longer available here. I've sent inquiries to the U.K. and so far have heard back from one (no luck). I am interested in how other owners have dealt with this problem. Has anyone tried a repair?

if your talking about the trim piece that covers the winshield pilar .......they never last ....most of them develop a crack after a couple of years....
