Default Bad Vibrations

I am a new member and unfamiliar with this website. Please ignore previous posting details.

When starting engine in a 1995 Rialta (5 cylinder) I get no unusual noises or behaviour . I can put transmission in PARK or NEUTRAL -and engine idles properly. But if I now switch engine into DRIVE I get immediate strong vibrations (at idle) which will continue until I start moving. None of these noises occur at other speeds until vehicle stops, then the vibrations again until going back into NEUTRAL or PARK.

HELP

That's a sign of a bad transmission mount.

open the hood ,

PUT THE SAFETY BRAKE ON ....

while you are watching under the hood,

have someone start the engine put the tranny in Drive ,then Reverse

if the tranny moves more then it should ,the mount is shoot !

Normaly it should barely move ......

Hi Dan,

Thanks very much for your suggestion. I hope replacement(s) is straight forward.
