Air conditioner in cab of 1998 Rialta stopped cooling with previous owner and new compressor was installed while on a trip. Malfunctioned later and another compressor was installed, mechanic said the first one did not have dryer replaced at the time. There was a noise from under the hood prior to ac going out, previous owner said. We are the new owner and experienced a noise and a/c stopped cooling.
Before we take to mechanic, we would appreciate feedback from other owners.
the Automotive a/c system is not complex on these rigs , ive fixed a few . However its expensive to fix properly any Compressor replacment requires the Lines to be flushed a new dryer / accumulator also the expansion valves to be replaced . the system vaccumed out and refilled with the proper amount of freon. any competent automotive a/c shop should be able to do this...
Hope i have helped FRED (ase master auto tech)
Ps .No short cuts do it right the first time..
