5 Cylinder or 6 Cylinder?

Hi, I am a newbie looking for a rialta and have yet to determine if I should look for the 5 cylinder or V6. I have read a few pros and cons for both but have not yet found good arguments for or against either. I understand that the 5 cylinder was evidently 95 and & 96 and everything up was the V6. In addition, it looks like the changed the V6 later for a higher output engine, I assume by installing DOHC. I am trying to determine if there is a huge difference between the older to newer generations. Any help, recommendations, curses or other would be appreciated. Thanks.

my opinion after owning a 5 cyl & now a VR6.....



Get a VR6 for its power/ fuel consumption ratio ......



the 2.5L 5 cyl is a tough engine but underpowered for hilly situations ....( 100 hp for over 6000lbs )


between the 12V & 24V is a question of choice


I have tried both .....


felt a small difference at high rpm ...otherwise quite similar


the 12V runs at lower rpm for same speed ....



whatever you buy : add a transmission oil cooler if it is not already equiped .....

Thanks for the info Dan. Also, do I understand correctly that the equipment (generator, roof and cab AC, refrig, etc) are better on the 97 and up models?

not that I know of ......they are all similar !



generators and fridge are to be maintained......



I took out my generator and had to maintain my fridge a couple of times



next move would be a 12V danfoss compressor fridge
