New news. Guy on the SMB forum contacted WGO and they said they are making the van for release this coming Summer.
I signed up to get updates but haven't heard. I will contact them to see if there is anything official and to confirm timing.

I will contact them and hopefully find out timing and option details. For instance, unfortunately for us we need AC for my wife... the concept doesn't have AC so it will be interesting if they offer that and if they do how it would be powered when not plugged in... maybe this could be the first WGO with a large second alternator instead of a standard generator?

With the Winnebago going into production, maybe this will speed up introduction of the Sprinter version of the Hymer Grand Canyon in 4wd over here. Good to have some competition to speed things up...

Don't hold your breath.
But there is the fact that Lithionics told me they are supplying a battery to Winnebago. For which model they couldn't say.

I called them in January and they had no information that it was going to be produced.

They replied by email. Nothing we didn't already know, though. Product release at the end of the summer. They declined to answer any other question, which makes sense ahead of a product launch.
Stay tuned.

Well that is good news they are making it. A Summer too late for me so we ordered a RT Agile instead. It will be interesting to see how it gets kitted out and what options are available (e.g. AC? generator or large alternator instead)?

Update on the Sprinter concept. Word from an instagram post is that the production version will be introduced at Overland Expo East this Fall (9/29 - 10/1)

argh, the timing is so close to the Hershey RV show, and I only live 45 minutes from there. Looks like if they don't have it at Hershey I might drive the 8.5 hours down to NC to check it out. I emailed them to see if it would be at hershey.

Will it be all-new, or will it just be a freshened up version of last year's 4x4 concept?

I guess we will find out. I was hoping the bathroom would be a tiny bit smaller so there is room for a bigger table on the dinette. I'd be okay with everything else as long as the price is okay. It should be much cheaper to build without the extra plumbing of a black tank and the AC. Though the lithium/inverter will eat up those savings probably.

very interested
We are very interested!! Ill likely head to Asheville for the weekend just to see this.
We have been super pleased with our Travato save for a few typical RV problems.
I would trade a bit of space for more capability in terms od 4WD, simplified electrical and plumbing and better 4 season performance.
I must admit, giving up a proper black tank will be tough. We thought we'd hate it and it has proved to be simple, reliable, and adequate for extended outings.
Alas trade offs are the harbinger of RV purchases...
Thrilled to see the industry trend in the direction of more capable vans to serve the off highway crowd.
