Default Water Shield

2002 Chevy Roadtrek -

Need to know if there is supposed to be one of these water shields on the passenger side in the engine compartment. Picture is sideways - the shield runs down the driver side of engine compartment.

Thanks

It is claimed to keep the water from running down onto the fuse and relay panel located right below it. There are also a few holes in driver side wheelwell that let water, and salt if you drive in it, up to the same panel. Some are snap in holes for the panel, but a bit of caulk over them is what did.

maybe the one shield is related to the sweep of the windshield wipers ?

just to make sure the water is poured near the fuse box !

I will have to look into that - I am pretty anal about water and salt being from northern Ohio. I just determined that my floor is soaked underneath my carpet... another post coming about that as I do not want to hijack my own thread!

previous I removed the fan motor to clean out the air box- I was surprised at the amount of leaves and dirt, partly blocking the little nipple which acts as a drain for a/c condensate.

it's a quick job, that may be the source of your water.

As others have said, no such shield on passenger side.

I did extend the driver side shield to prevent water from dumping onto the wire bundle. I did this after a very small wire broke in that wire bundle. That broken wire caused the engine to cut-off after starting for a few seconds. I ended up have the vehicle flat bedded to a heavy duty truck facility that was known for its electrical diagnosis skills. They found it and $500 later I was on the road again. I also put some wire protection wrap around the wire bundle. I don't know if a critter got to it or how it broke.

I am starting to notice a lot of "owner improvements" regarding the Chevy vans. This is my first one so it is all fun and interesting, but it seems like there were a lot of short cuts taken .....
