Default Water leak!!

Rain storm last night, now the side of my rig a few inches below the window is wet. Do you think it's the window leaking? 20211005_182410.jpg

Yep. Get some black weather sealer and finger it outside of the frame against the body. All should be well. The rubber shrinks over time causing a leak.

A lot of people swear by this stuff for small leaks. Your leak may require something more dramatic like was suggested in the first response to your post.

Can you explain what black weather sealer is? I'm a woman with little experience! Thanks!

Gimme a day and I’ll get a picture.

The sealer/adhesive is very difficult to remove from your hands so rubber gloves are advised. Use your fingers to force it between the window seal and the body. Use masking tape to protect the body and remove it while the sealer is still wet.

You will note the sun has degraded the seal around my window. It still doesn’t leak.

Again, if you get it on your skin it will have to wear off.

Hope this helps. Others may have additional ideas. The sealer was purchased at O’Reilly’s. Auto Zone should have it, too.

That stuff in the pictures should certainly work for you. One bit of thought: please be sure and clean the surfaces well prior to applying. My preference is plain ole isopropyl alcohol. The water is probably invading at the top and perhaps both sides, running around the frame and then down into the RT.

Just mask around as suggested and wear some gloves. I always keep a box of disposal latex gloves in my garage for purposes like this.

I would recommend black silicone caulk over the 3M Weather strip adhesive. The 3M product is intended to adhere rubber weather strips in place, and it is really good at that, but it is not really a caulking compound. You are right that it is really nasty stuff!

I bought it and after reading the label, decided not to use it. So I'm going to take my RT to an expert instead of messing around with it myself! Thanks!

The virtue of the weather strip adhesive is it’s lack of viscosity allowing it to flow into the separation between the rubber and the body.
