Toilet roof vent?

On my 1997 Roadtrek 190V, This is what the roof vent looks like for the toilet black water tank. It doesn't look right. Is something missing? seems like it can fill with rain. Can somebody tell me what it's supposed to look like or have a picture?

That's pretty much waht is on our recent Roadtrek. It actually is connected to both the black and gray water tanks, and vents both. Yes, water can get in, but hey, they are holding tanks! It would take a lot of rain to make much of dent in the tank's capacity.

It is pretty much normal. You can get fancy tricked out caps and covers for them at most
RV service centers, and probably even at Walmart. One I've seen has a "shark fin" directional,
weather vane, that says it increases the rate of venting. Probably just like all the other gimmicky
RV stuff for sale out there.

I asked the same question a few years ago, as I'd seen some pretty strange add ons on other vans.
I also asked about critters, and was told they'd have to be pretty desperate to go in that pipe.

Or just leave them in, and you've got the makings of a good septic tank.

We have 2 of them on our 2001 200P. I just cut out a 2 inch hole in 2 tennis balls to cover the vents for the winter (lots o' snow here) since I didn't want to think of the possibility of something freezing/cracking in the plumbing.

You ca buy one of this from campingworld ($5.99), it easily attaches to the existing vent without any modification.

I cut 2 tennis balls to fit over the vents for the winter. They are loose enough to allow for any expansion/contraction dependent on air temperature, but secure enough to stay on in the strong winter winds we get here.

Anyone know where I can get a replacement for this cap? The screw in part on mine broke off flush with the roof. I searched all over online and all the RV vent caps seem much more elaborate and larger.
