Default Seeking Advice for Replacing Hot Water Heater/Tank in 1996 210P

Hi Guys,

New owner here. I removed the anode from my new/old Roadtrek and out came the nastiest lumps of sulfur smelling biomass. Flushed and had what appeared to be the liner of the the tank coming out (definitely not scale -- dark and brittle chunks).

There was enough rust that I decided to simply order a new Suburban SW6D tank and replace it.

It looks straightforward enough, but I'd love to hear some tips from anybody who's done this. My biggest concern is the caulking/gasket (?) on the outside. How do you deal with that?

Thanks much!

Thank goodness, this is one area I've not had to tackle so I have no specific info to offer you. But have you considered what kind of plumbing connections you need to make? Mine is a newer van and I'd have to get the tools to make proper pex connections.
