Default The New VW Crafter

.

A new ClassB platform

This is not a rebadged Sprinter.
This is ALL NEW.

It can be ordered with FWD, AWD, or RWD.

3 different lengths
3 different heights

The longest is longer than the extended ProMaster.

Do you have any links on this being available in the US? Google didn't give me anything. Nothing would come up on local VW dealer sites. And the general VW site listed things that are obviously only available in Europe.

Interesting. Based on those dimensions, the only height that would probably be suitable for an RV that would allow an average height person to stand up in would be the Super High Roof with an outside height of 9'2" (the high roof Sprinter is about 9'). The length options are 19' 7", 22' 5" and 24' 3".

I bet it is a long time before VW brings this vehicle to the US market.

....indeed, a very long time. VW didn’t want to bring their T-5 or T-6 vans after getting out from NA with their Type – 4 model. I think VW would be way better off marketing latest T models instead of cheating.

Volkswagen is just starting to get over their recent emissions cheating fiasco. Their Rialta running gear does not seem to be reliable. Their engineering has left me stranded many years ago in a type 1 and again in a type 4. Volkswagen engineering scares me. .... sorry, just saying.

I just recently read that the Fiat guy, Sergio, is trying to have talks with VW concerning a possible merger. Sergio has approached every manufacturer, even Apple, about merging with him. VW is really tarnished with the cheating on emissions, but I believe that little Italian and his piss poor cars would bring about the demise of VW. Ron

Peugeot bought GM’s Opel increasing competition for VW in EU so it could be in VW interest to merge with Fiat. After Daimler dumped Chrysler Fiat’s Sergio stepped in and saved them. Fiat has a strong IP position on valve control which could benefit VW. https://www.google.com/patents/US8776749.

Time will tell if VW will recover in US but their market share is not shrinking dramatically, well, it shrunk to 2009 level. VW European sales figures
