Default Shower Faucet Blow Hole

Water is leaking profusely out of my shower faucet thru the small pressure relief hole see this thread:

https://www.classbforum.com/forums/f...ucet-1571.html

Need to know if the faucet must be removed in order to dig into this and check the rubber seal that is mentioned. I can see myself implementing FUBAR here

TY

That plastic piece with the hole in it is a "vacuum breaker." It is there to prevent water from being drawn back through the shower hose and contaminating the fresh water supply. It is easily replaced, you just unscrew it and screw in a new one. You do not need to remove the faucet. You can get a new one on amazon:

I think that it might also be possible to replace it with what it called a "d-spud" that does not have the backflow prevention:

Thanks for enlightening me. I was thinking of using silicone to try and seal the hole - but I think I am just going to get a new faucet and quit trying to polish turds.

Why replace the entire faucet when the problem is only with the breaker? I replaced mine recently and it was literally a five minute job and good as new.

I think it looks like crap and there is leaking from the knobs..

That being said the smart move is to purchase the part and try it out because the leaking from the knobs could be water leaking at the connection of the part which is behind the silver housing and just coming out of the holes for the knobs.

I ordered the part - thanks for pushing the issue on me
