Default RV Partnership

I met someone today who co-owns an RV with someone else. 50 / 50

I'd know people do that with boats & cabins etc.

Is anyone here in an RV partnership?

1/2 the bills
1/2 the maintenance
1/2 the depreciation

hmmmm.......

It's an interesting idea.

I did once a long time ago. I can't say it was all that bad but it really wasn't that good either. My partner used it a lot more than me but that could partially have been my fault as I was always working. I did the chassie maontanence and he did the house stuff while his wife cleaned it. All in all I guess I did save on the complete expenditure and upkeep and if I would have bought it myself I would really have been out. Even the one I have now (and it is all mine & my wife's) we rarely get a chance to get out much. Hopefully it will still be good for retirement.

We thought about it. When we first purchased we considered buying one to share with my sister and her husband. However, the BIL lost his job right about that time and they decided against it. Since he's found and lost several jobs since then, we're kind of relieved that we just went ahead and purchased on our own. They know they can use it any time they want to anyway.

I would still consider the idea, but would make sure it was with someone that I knew well and trusted. You would want to have a written agreement as to who does what work, who pays for what, and who uses it when. I think it's a real good idea.
