First it was credit and debit cards that were easily double scanned, there were people inserting data skimmers
in gas pumps and ATMs, or a CCTV that watched the keypad while you entered your PIN, or just a fake
keyboard that recorded it without your knowledge. So, to "fix" that, they added the RFC (radio frequency
chip) that was supposed to make it harder to steal the information, but the crooks could buy a $100 scanner
and use a small laptop to read them while they're in your pocket. So they get your money and a segue to
stealing your identity, too.
We switched back to cash. It's easier to replace than id, and scanner thieves refer to you as "Mr. President".
