Update
Thanks for all the advice. Made it to Indiana for total eclipse/family reunion. Then took Natchez Trace from Nashville to Natchez. Nice peaceful drive with interesting pullouts and short hikes. We did one side excursion to Muscle Shoals to tour the recording studio. From Natchez went to Hot Springs, then to Petit Jean SP and up to Buffalo River, across to Crystal Bridges in Bentonville, and down to Devil's Den SP. Beautiful country. From there we had 2 stops in Texas before hitting Austin to meet son at Abnb. Started leaking brake fluid coming into Waco on late Saturday (in intense rain no less). Got it fixed first thing Monday morning and was in time to get son from Austin airport in late afternoon. After Austin (and a month away) went back to Phoenix. Stops in Fredricksburg (too many wineries to count.....literally) and Las Cruces.
[Sidebar: It was the hard brake line coming from the rear axle junction block to the rear pass tire that was leaking. The line was severely bent and the guy asked if we ever had a tire blow there. We had. It was a tire separation that came back at the van so hard it bent the bodywork......and apparently that brake line as well.]
