Default Roadtreks rear mattress dimensions and Futons

Futon mattress is a perfect fit!

I was trying to figure out how to fit a new mattress in the back bed area of my 1985 Roadtrek Versatile when I spotted a nice futon mattress and frame on the side of the road for free. I loaded the futon mattress in the Roadtrek and lo and behold, it was a perfect fit.

Just thought I'd pass it on.

(The futon mattress is clean and bug free. Now my bed is more comfortable than the original cushions and no special modifications were necessary. -I burned the frame as firewood. )

And.... what is that measurement? I am tempted to get a 100% cotton futon rather than sleeping on 16 year old PVC...
You scored- you ever priced a cotton futon? My crossways bed is 48" wide and exactly 72 inches long. Even though I am 5'`10, I have to sleep diagonally to make it work. And there's that pesky "shirt closet" on the driver side that makes me have to sleep in one direction, even if the Feng Shui is wrong.... What? Ya'll don't practice Feng Shui in your vans?
Of course if something is built in to the van, removing it would create a cosmetic eyesore. So I use the little half closet for- what else- extra bedding/towels. It's the linen closet.
And another question--- HOW do couples manage to sleep in a 48" wide bed...

We don't. Our bed is 68" x 74" so says the literature. My measurements think 70" x 72" might be a tad more accurate but I'm not quibbling with either. It is a tri-fold electric sofa with a three layer foam design that turns down into a bed.

When it absolutely, positively, has to get there overnight? Of course, doesn't everybody??

The 48" bed is probably why this van was for sale. The original owner was a single woman who owned it 12 years. The Canadian couple owned it less than a year and the guy at the consignment lot said the husband bought it without telling the wife, they spent ONE night in it........and it was back on the lot. Lucky me.

FedEx? Yeah that sounds like Feng Shui in Canadian, I guess.

A couple sleeping in the 48" bed isn't bad at all (assuming they are close and average size). Heidi and I fit quite well! "Spooning" isn't necessary at all, but you could claim it was if you wanted!

Doesn't everyone consider Feng Shui priority in a van?! I just thought that was a "given"
