Default Roadtrek Zion - Promaster based Class B Motorhome

Here are some updated photos of Roadtrek's new Zion Class B Motorhome. I've noticed some changes from the earlier prototype photos and like what I see

Nice color cabinetry:

Full stainless steel:

Counter extension:

TV on passenger side - looks like you extend the passenger side bed, sit on the sofa and lounge with your feet up

Looks okay except for those (excuse me) ridiculous curtains! They must have gotten my sister, The Monster, to decorate that. I'll still check it out a bit more.

Hey Gerry. Can a person of 5'8" sleep front to back or do you have to sleep side to side?

Gerry will know for sure but I think you can sleep either way.

Some updates I noticed:

- no 1/4 round trim at sofa base end
- TV on passenger side - should be easier to see from driver's seat and easy to lounge on sofa to watch TV
- looks like more underbed drawers or compartments or at least more divisions so probably easier to separate and organize indoor and outdoor stuff (or his and her stuff)
- window trim
- step to cab is straight across now

Things I had not noticed before:
Looks like rear reading lights on each side.
Three multi outlet 12v / USB / 120V centers. One up front above the counter extension and one on each side in the rear. A Google search for that turns up a post from Gerry saying that he saw those when he viewed the Zion.

It is nice to see they weren't afraid to use a full height cabinet on the kitchen side. You need all the storage you can get. An area for bigger stuff would be nice, though, like you get with across the back storage designs. I wonder if they could do a setup like the pre-power sofa Chevies, where the area across the back of the seating area was filled so you got the full across the back storage?

The dark stains always seem to look nicer in the pics and videos, to us, and in person they are too dark for us.

I do hope these smaller van designs catch on so the market has something for everyone.

Here's a quick video of the Zion with the white interior posted by Roulottes Rive-Sud, in Quebec, Canada ( http://www.roulottesrive-sud.com )

The lower overcab storage looks like a new addition also:

Interesting white, kind of like some of the B's were around 2000(?). We saw a lot of them when we were looking. It would be tough to pick that over the dark wood, I think, but if it was light maple, that would be us. I wonder if they are going to have one at the Minneapolis show in February?

I tested the beds it front to back. i had the couch out. it was rock solid. the beds are 76 inches long -front to back and if made into a king 73 inches wide

Lake Region told me that they had scheduled the prototype for the show in MSP in Feb. It is supposedly on its way via a show in... Michigan I believe.

Let me come in here as a vote for really liking the white interior. My first B, a 2004 GWV, had a white interior and I loved it... make that small van feel so much more spacious than it really was. But I'm one who actually likes the simple gray cabinetry of Sportsmobile. It is nice to have options for all tastes.

With that material choice, I would assume that virtually any color would be possible.

Most van manufactures only have a short list of fairly conservative choices. This white is about as bold a choice as their is out there right now. Personally, I don't care for the dark ones, as most vans are fairly dark inside already.

But it would be interesting if someone would use bold interior color choices as their thing (kind of like the bright red exterior from W). But I doubt they'd go for it. How could you possibly re-sell a van with a flame red interior?

Based on these pics, if we were in the market for a smaller B, this would probably be it....love that interior color, hate the curtains....
Anyone know if RT is going to offer the diesel option like WGO is?

we ordered the zion with the cherry interior. and faux off white leather seats/beds, however it has a couple of issues. weight is one-it's specs are 1250 pound carrying capacity. a diesel engine would add more weight. for that reason alone i don't think you'll see a diesel.

the other is towing. roadtrek joe in a post said it only is rated to tow 2000 pounds. i have seen no other mention of it. since i have no desire to tow anything we did not care.

before you bring up the Travato specs i will. i have no idea why they are so different from roadtreks-i can only guess number of passengers-but i don't really know

i can honestly say i love the curtains.

It's been mentioned before - the difference is OCC vs. CCC.

They are both the same when you compare apples to apples. Around 2000 lbs payload.

The weight of conversion is "around" 2000 lbs no matter the manufacturer. You'd really be hard presssed to put 1000 lbs in any of these vans, so really no worries about being overloaded.

The one advantage of the deisel would be tow rating - it should go up. There may not be a difference in weights due to the transmission and size of fuel tank.
