You actually think Roadtrek is going to say anything more than software glitch? I would hope so, but I just don't see that happening.

At least for me, and probably others, to instill a bit more confidence in the fix and their response to the problem.

my point was it does not matter what they say-it's what happens-if in say the next 6 months nobody else gets this issue-assuming they will tell us- i will consider it solved

As long as it fixes the problem, I will be happy. Even if they spent half the day explaining to me what happened, I probably wouldn't understand. Heck, I was just starting to understand the 12v AGM system in my last rig. (in my first one, I only plugged in, so never used them) Then I'd come on the net with my half-assed understanding and just muddy the waters... and some one would use my misunderstanding to beat on RT. LOL (see... I'm beginning to figure out this group)

If this works... fantastic... I'll be a happy camper (not the one that will deodorize the black tank) and I hope that no one else has the problem. But I'm sure that it will show up on the net if anyone does. I know that it is going to take a while for me to trust this system though...

i'm actually beginning to think that the problem was the battery itself not the
BMS.

Roadtrek does buy the battery parts and assemble them themselves as far as i know.

i don't think they're from a standardized factory except for the 'prismatic cells'
themselves

That seems to be their assumption. I guess we will find out this week once the new battery arrives and gets installed.

The new battery arrived at the dealer and I have an appointment this morning to install it. Watch this space...

It's in... and working. Plan to take a trip next week to Wisconsin. Close enough that I can get back home in just over an hour if the system should poop out on me again.

Mumkin, did RT give you any more info on exactly what happened? Just a bad lithium?

That's good news Good idea to take a shorter trip first - it may take a few trips until you are confident about the systems reliability.

I just met a guy with a 2014 Etrek with a voltrek and Ecotrek upgrade. Hammill is apparently giving them a brand new Etrek due to the many problems they have had. Yikes.

I won't say his name as to not create more problems with Roadtrek than they already have. They were promised a new Etrek and they are heading there to "swap".

They just shipped me a new battery... no one has touched base with me since the call last week that the battery would be sent on Tuesday. Nor could we get through to the factory techs when questions came up during the process of switching them out. They still hadn't returned the calls by the time I headed back home.

We did find an installation issue, but I'm not going to speculate about whether it did or didn't cause the issue. That will likely come out with their testing. But the main issue for me was that the shut down of the battery also shut down the 120v system, which is what they said they were re-programming because it shouldn't do that.

You are right Marco Polo... it is going to take awhile for me to trust this system. I've pondered whether to challenge the system by running down the battery (turn on the fridge? or would the solar keep it going?) to make it shut down to see if it takes the 120v down again.

Keep us posted mumkin, since you are truly a pioneer with Ecotrek on a 170V We just ordered ours - a 2016 170V with Ecotrek 400, Voltrek, underhood generator, 200 watts solar on top plus 200 watts portable solar. Probably a four month wait due to current Chevy chassis shortage. Oh well, it gives me time to sell our 2013 170V. BTW, I posted it for sale today under Classifieds.

It's a good idea to really test it Mumkin. If it passes a stress test that you create that will go a long way toward restoring full confidence in the system.

My guess is that the solar won't keep the battery fully charged with the fridge on full time. It might take a few days for the cumulative net loss to trigger a battery protection shutdown situation. You could speed up the draw down by using the fan and lights etc. in addition to using the fridge.

I do think 200 watts is right on the edge of keeping up based on what we saw with ours. It kept up easily in good sun, but was way short in poor sun. In bad sun 200ah of batteries is only going to be good for a couple of days.

Driving a bit with the engine generator will get you back very quickly.
