Default Roadtrek Popular 210 King bed

Hello, I have an 05 Roadtrek, without the electric rear seat. So we set up the king bed manually.
My question is what are the hinged wings (2 on each side) behind the back cushions used for?
I figure they wouldn’t be there if Roadtrek didn’t have a reason, but heck if I can tell what it is.
Thanks for any ideas.

I have the same unit and have not really found the answer. I'm sure it is something simple. I'll be following.

Keeps the cushions down of rough roads is the best explanation I have heard. Flip them out and they will do that.

They are to place the seat back cushions against when they are not bring used as part of the bed. That is why they are angled as are the cushions.

Maybe you could take a picture to explain. Mine are not angled, neither are the cushions.

Here we go. Go to page 19. It explains those in great detail. Ha Ha.

The hinged panels in my 190 are horizontal and must have a different purpose.

To tell you the truth, I have no idea what the are used for. The manual is plain as mud.

The back cushions have a hard board backing. They could have the same function as the vertical ones in the 210. They keep the bottom of the cushion away from the wall giving it an angle.

I use one of them to mount a small Halon fire extinguisher. Saved my coach. I knew exactly where the extinguisher was when a propane leak in the refrigerator compartment ignited.

Default This makes the most sense.

Thanks Deano…

I can see now how it would work. When the panels are extended, it narrows the distance of the seating cushion to the back cushion. This makes it more comfortable to sit on and have back support, especially for shorter folks!
