mark-it's amazing how different people look at things differentty. we did not want an across the back soda to avoid as many lying across craks as possible. we both layed on the zion. the permanent side bed is great. the couch when folds out has a long front to back section also no cracks and wide enough to accomodate me. how to look at tv was secondary

The exchange of ideas on forums is what is so great. You might think of something that I'd like and I might think of something that you'd like
I'd put a Coleman, BBQ, freshwater hose, 30 amp cord, outside mat, leveling blocks, camp chairs, tool bag, screen room etc. in the rear if I could. That makes it easy for me to set up camp and pack up when leaving.

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion
Congrats Gerry. I'm sure it will be stunning in the cherry color and a light colored leather. No van is perfect, but this one is close!
Everyone needs to bear in mind that this is version 1.0 of the Zion. Roadtrek will make tweaks down the line as it gets feedback from it's customers. Hope we see additional floorplans from them too.

Companies really need to get a balance of opinions about their products.
What people like and what they don't like is valuable information.
We're smart enough to be able to sort through criticism and praise and therefore make informed decisions.

I totally agree, and it probably goes along with the discussion that Cyclingcamper has on the websites not having current information. Most folks want to hear the good/bad/ugly before they get a particular model, so there really is no such thing as too much information, as long as it is true.

Ok. I hope you'll start your own thread in 2 to 3 months. Just in time for Spring. Probably better than having it sit in driveway itching to go somewhere.

I take it there are quite a few dealer orders in ahead of you. Did your dealer have any in the pipe?

they havee many orders. we have the dealrs slot. however a waiting actual customer usually gets preference over dealer stock not sold yet. however they have a bunch of these going to rental companies(i don't know names) that have priority because of rental confirmations. april/may around in there. we expected this-not an issue

as i've said april/may. other than the battery situation-discussed ad nauseum-on this forum i have to admit i love this van-i saw a picture in cherry and it looks great.
the wife loving it is the most important thing. i will work around the battery issues as best i can.
of course we'll see how i feel when we have our first'issue'. i've had other rv's(not vans) and there are always issues.

My favorite colors all around. I probably have a Travato 59k in my future but don't like red or silver. I think Windcrasher has the same outside color from before Winnebago lost their minds. We will all anxiously await your new babies arrival.

Congratulations, great choices!
Question: do the rear benches come with seat belts?

Re: Roadtrek is making a ProMaster model... Zion
Nice - congratulations Gerry51!
I think you configured it similar to what we would do. We're not sure on the Onan though? We'll be watching what you and other owners say once you start using it.
The Zion is our favorite RV right now. The floor plan is exactly what we are looking for and we like the storage available etc. We'll also be going with the gas engine.
I think it's rude to ask you what you paid but I'm curious since this is such a new and in demand unit do dealers still discount the usual 10-15% or are they less likely to deal due to the demand? The only RV we bought was back in 2002 and it was heavily discounted about 18%-20% off MSRP.
We're trying to decide if we should wait a year or two before we buy. We won't be retired for another few years, maybe up to 5 years, so if we bought now we wouldn't be able to use it too much. Plus with the massive depreciation of RVs this might not make sense? We'd just be able to take weekend getaways and a couple of 1-2 week trips at most until we retire. Once we retiree we have at least 5 years worth of touring planned, not full timing but 1-3 month trips a few times per year.
Our other option is to buy something used now then get a new unit in 4-5 years, this would reduce the year to year depreciation. Used Class Bs are very hard to find at good prices though, most 2-5 year old units I see advertised at prices close to what a new discounted unit could go for.
