Road Atlas

I'm just curious what people use for a road atlas?

Personally, I like Micro$ Streets and Trips for calculating cost of a trip but I prefer an older version of Delorme Map 'n Go for planning routes. It has the ability to customize your trip by allowing you to pick "Via" a road. With Streets and Trip, you need to put stops throughout your route to make it choose the route you want.

I usually keep a copy of Rand McNalley Road Atlas book in my vehicle for when I'm traveling. I like printing a flip map with Map 'n Go too help too.

We have Rand McNally's Atlas, too. But, we also have a Garmin GPS 2720. It really works great. Harold calls it "Sweetie!" She talks to him and when he makes a mistake, she says "RECALCULATING!" Like she is really annoyed with him that he didn't listen to her directions.
We used it on our 3 week trip to Florida and to North Carolina and it took us to every address we wanted to go to. You can put in restaurants, gas stations, etc and it takes you right to the door. It is a touch screen and it is very easy to use. Also comes with a remote.

One of these days I'll have to get a GPS. Sounds like fun.

I use Streets & Trips and fold up paper maps. My Rand McNally Atlas is a little old. Where did the last decade go anyway...........

Like you renrut, I have to add stops to Streets & Trips to make it take "my route".

One time, when I followed Streets & Trips directions exactly, it led me to a posh resort - unfortunately I had reservations at the adjacent - not so fancy - camground next door

We use CoPilot Live. We also have a plain old Rand-McNally paper atlas as a back up plan. However, we very seldom travel with a plan or destination in mind. We just go to wherever we wind up, very often rolling a dice to decide which direction. It's also fun to look for roads that follow a river - you'll almost always find some great scenery that way.

I decided to check out the latest Delorme Road Atlas program. It use to be called AAA Map 'n Go but now it's Delorme Street Atlas USA. It has the complete USA and Canada. I checked it out and it has the mileage calculator like Streets and Trips and still has the VIA option. I really like that because you can customize your route without putting in stops.

I'll have to start looking at a route to where I'm moving to. I've tried to stop work from moving me but I don't have a choice. They allow me about 6 hours of driving a day so an Atlas program will help figure out all the stops. I don't think there will be a Walmart every 6 hours but I'm sure we will find some nice campgrounds.
