Replacing side-mounted residential A/C with rooftop RV A/C
I got a 1999 American Cruiser in late October and it appears that water has been coming in around the side-mounted A/C. The water damage has been repaired and what could be sealed has been sealed by an RV shop. I have also bought waterproof material to place on the outside of the camper when it is not in motion and it is raining.
I am considering taking it back to the RV shop and having them remove the side-mounted residential A/C and replace it with a rooftop RV A/C. Has anyone done this before? The guy at the RV shop is concerned about the lack of real estate on the roof and ceiling. I have two powered roof vents (is this standard for a class B? seems like over kill to me!) so there are holes already, but there is not much space around the vents on the inside or on the outside. There's a solar panel on the roof as well. So, I need a compact A/C if one exists.
Has anyone done anything similar? If so, what A/C did you use?
