Default Replace roof A/C with heat

Hello. I recently purchased a 1995 Dodge Xplorer and the original (22-year-old) Duo-Therm Brisk Air by Dometic (with heat option) decided to quickly expire after I got her home. I'm looking for recommendations for replacing it and I am looking at a 13,500 BTU Dometic Duo Therm Brisk 2 Air. Any advice would be appreciated as I would like to only have to do this one time. Thank you in advance!

Although I have a heating unit in my AC, I seem use a little cube heater on the floor or counter when needed. I don't know why.

.

Do you really need the air conditioner?

If it is not an urgent need, you can get settled in first, then plan for next year.

I'm in North Carolina and have a dog. Having a working a/c is a must.

I realize it went out as soon as you got home, but is it fatal, or has someone checked it out and declared it worthless. I am only saying this in that just maybe it is a fuse, loose wire. Know all about the NC temps right now. Ron
