Default Replace 3-way cooling coils advice req.

As I mentioned on an earlier thread I'm thinking about restoring my old Dometic 3-way; replacing the thermostat, some other minor parts and putting on a new cooling coil unit. Do any of you have any experience with any of these vendors? Thanks!

Nope. I didn’t use any of those vendors.

I did make one change in the install. Instructions say use spray foam around the cold plate. If you do that you will never get it out again if you have to. I used foam tape as in door seal to close the air gap around the cold platr. If I have to take it apart again, I can.

You could use Saran Wrap as a mold release, I suppose. I chose not to use the spray foam.

Do you remember the company that you did use? And were you happy with them.

JC refrigeration. At the time they wouldn’t touch the little fridges. Maybe they changed their minds since. Been three or four years and working well on a Dometic 2663.

I purchased their compressor conversion also. It is waiting in the wings. With Starlink I don’t have the power.

Don't waste your time. I've repaired mine over the years, but once the coils go, any kind of leak and it's trash time. Ex-Refrigeration tech for what it's worth. I did replace mine with like for like, pretty simple removal and install. The new one was not cheap. I RM2354

Agree with ChicagoTOm to not try to repair on your own. Since your unit is old I would be concerned about the seals, heaters, and electrical controls. If you are up for getting the fridge done as part of a trip, I highly recommend National RV Refrigeration. I would see if they have a scratch and dent unit in stock. I was going to travel there to have them install one but I found a new unit close to home.
