Default Removing awning

Removing awning 2008 Road trek 210
I am having a small leak which sometimes shows up in the light fixture just behind the wardrobe on the passenger side. Also sometimes from the bottom of the wardrobe itself. I haven’t been able to find any moisture on the inside of the wardrobe. Anyway i’m thinking that the leak baby coming from the ironing brackets/attachment or at least in that area.

So I need to remove the awning do you have a good luck.

Also if anyone has had a leak in this area and has traced it downI would love to hear from them

Thanks for any help

Never owned a RT, but I've had my share of leaks in previous vans. My advice is don't assume that the leak is anywhere near the point at which it is manifest. A roof leak often travels above the ceiling for a long distance before finding a path downward. Pay attention to the pitch of the ceiling when the van is parked in its normal spot.

Also, any penetration should be suspect. I once had a leak that I traced to a small outdoor porch light. Take down the fixtures and make sure all holes are well-sealed.

Thanks for the reply

Interesting that you mention the porch light. We’ve already removed and recaulked moving onto the awning a step at a time.

if your vent fan is anything like the pleasure way- a seep past the seal on the roof can run between the roof and the "ceiling" and end up running towards the outside walls of the van.

my leak was a worn seal on the rotating antenna. easy fix once I found it. The water was traveling in such a way I thought I might have a pex leak in the wall

my leak was at the top right corner area of the windshield. ended up being the sealant in the gutter was all dried up and water seeped in the crack where the roof is attached. it traveled to the front windshield area.
