Default removal of AC unit in Roadtrek

I was just wondering -- has anyone ever removed the AC/heat pump unit from the roof and traveled without it? I was thinking that if I was traveling for a long time in the northwest, Alaska, Maritimes, I probably wouldn't ever really need AC, and I could use the space for storage (plus it would be lighter). But I'd have to make sure it was sealed from the outdoors, of course. Thoughts?

Sounds like more work than it's worth. I also worry about the resale value since it would no longer have an ac.

Get an exhaust fan to fill the hole. I think most AC units have the same 14x14 opening. If you aren't using the AC you won't miss it.

Indeed, that is the question that will determine the correct answer.

Roof mount (standard 14" x 14' hole) = yes.

Rear mount (Cool Cat slide in model) = no.

Hi RoadToad. Are you the person offering the coolcat free for pickup? Also I’m curious as to why you wanted to swap out an operating unit

2 reasons mainly.
Cool Cat is quite noisy. New LG is very quiet.
And..
Remote control on new unit so we can control while not having to make a trip to the awkwardly placed OEM thermostat
