Default Problem with pairing BMV

Sorry for the previous text.
I have an issue with pairing my upgraded iPhone with the VictronConnect 712 bmv. I contacted Victron who said the unit is still connected to the old phone. I reset the old to factory settings before shipping it back.
Does anyone know how to resolve this issue. I tried disconnecting the shunt and reinstalling without success.

I don’t have Victron, but in general, wiping the old phone just means the Victron thinks the phone went away and will come back. You have to tell the Victron to forget the old phone so it can find the new one.

How long did you disconnect the Victron 712? I believe it has some memory so may take a bit of time before it can reset? I have the same unit. A total disconnect will do it but may have be overnight?

make sure your iphone didn't copy over the old settings for bluetooth devices

if so, delete the device from the bluetooth settings

delete then reinstall the app, unless there is stored data you must save

try re-pairing

for something like that i would use an old iphone in airplane mode ( no sim), that's what I use for the obdfusion app I use to monitor the motor and tranny

there are potential security issues where an app like that may be reporting your location, what speed you drive, when you are awake or asleep, the other apps on your phone and how you use hem- thousands of data points may be transmitted

which may allow 3rd or 4th parties more info that you'd want

Mkguitar

The phone does not recognize the victron. Bluetooth is searching for a device and the victron app tells me to enter the password which it won’t accept. Therefore no pairing. The manual is worthless when it comes to this problem and tech support hasn’t really helped either.

The most common blue tooth pairing PIN is four zeroes in a row, 0000.
Two others you may encounter on some devices are 1111 and 1234.

if that doesn't work, look for the serial number, it could be the last 4 digits of that

I tried:
Deleting the app and reinstalling, disconnecting the BMV overnight, multiple passwords (factory default is 000000), shutting down the phone with no luck. I appreciate all the suggestions though. Thank you

Sorry I don;t have a victron, so suggestions general in nature

on one of my devices ( odbfusion through a bluetooth OBDII reader)

the bluetooth connection is not made through iphone "settings" but through the app itself under communication in the menu

This requires the iphone bluetooth on, but nothing paired or active

the in the app selection communication

I wonder if your victron has similar procedure

odd victron can't/ won't help

I have tweeted them with a link to this thread, maybe they will respond with a solution

According to the manual you can reset the BMV by pressing and holding the Select and Setup buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds.

Thanks Mike
Everything that was tried has failed. Victron tells me the the unit is still paired with the old phone. Hopefully they can come up with a solution

Instead of just telling you it's still paired with the old phone, they should be telling you how to make it forget (unpair) the old phone.

Found a thread on another forum. See #10 and hard factory reset.

https://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=41303.0

Also default bluetooth setup code is 000000 (six zeros)

Manual https://www.victronenergy.com/upload...R-DE-ES-SE.pdf

Good luck
