There's been some discussion of power stations on various threads and in looking at them I feel I don't understand the specs well. So if a power station lists its capacity at 1000Whrs does that mean it has the storage capacity of 1000/12 = 83Ahrs of 12v power OR 8.3AH of 120v?

That's correct. A typical 1200Wh Power Station has around 100Ah at 12V.
